Powhiri Manuhiri 1/7

 1/7
On a sunny Friday morning the whole
school walked down to Tawaraunui
to welcome our Kuia and Kaumatua
to our kura. It was Kuia and Kaumatua day.

First Whaea Waitangi called the karanga  for the kura.
Then  Whaea Koryna said the karanga for the manuhiri.
Next the whole school sang a waiata.
After that Papa Puke said the mihi tuatahi
and  Papa Wattie said the mihi tautoko.
Later On the manuhiri returned the speech to the hau kainga.
I felt so happy my Kuia and Kaumatua came because they know I love them so much.

  1. Hi Kennedy,
It was brilliant to see so many kuia and kaumatua come to school. It was a great day that we need to do again.
What did you show your kuia and kaumatua when they came into your classroom?
What did they have to say?
